Garage Door Repair Tips on Replacing or Repairing Panels

Garage door repair

safety

Once you have your garage replacement panels, make sure you and your family are safe. Meaning your garage door stays firmly in the closed position. After which, you will have to unplug your garage door opener, so someone does not hit the switch and injure you by accident or cause even more damage to the garage door. Once this is done, you will then need to take the tension off by removing the springs.

Panel removal

The first step is to make some room by removing either the top panel completely or to use a come-a-long to separate them. Garage door panels are generally secured in one of two ways, to the guide track with the aid of hinge brackets, and to each other again with the aid of hinges. Once you have made enough room to work, you will need to unscrew the hinges on the damaged panel and remove it from the garage door.

New Panel Installation

Now the old panel is out, will then need to work backward in order to put the new one in, and then reattach the hinge brackets and hinges on either side. Replace your top panel you either removed or released using the come-a-long method. Once this has been done, you will then need to slide your garage door back into the open position and reconnect the spring or springs.

Matching the new to the old

With the constant bleaching of the sun and weathering, even if you were lucky enough to find the same color of your garage, the chances are it will not be exactly the same shade. So you need to be ready to either refinish or repaint your garage door

so that

the front of your home looks just as good as it did before. For all your
